The fashion crowd is a resilient lot, a fact that never fails to cheer us in gloomy times. No matter how shivery the weather may be or seriously scary the economy gets, nothing can keep the world’s trendsetters from attending the shows! We adore this buoyant spirit—it truly lightens our mood—so we felt compelled to honor a few of our favorite attendees in today’s What They Wore: Fashion Week. Whether they’re wearing fancy frocks (à la Julia Restoin Roitfeld) or perfectly disheveled boyfriend jeans (hello, Meredith Melling Burke), we think there’s much to admireThe fashion crowd is a resilient lot, a fact that never fails to cheer us in gloomy times. Whether they’re wearing fancy frocks (à la Julia Restoin Roitfeld) or perfectly disheveled boyfriend jeans (hello, Meredith Melling Burke), we think there’s much to admire about these lovely ladies and their personal style!
1. Rachel Zoe
Every outfit Rachel Zoe touches turns to gold (naturally), so we had a slew of fashion week getups to choose from for today! Our favorite ensemble is the look she sported at Marc Jacobs' show, where the sartorial saint proved that you don't have to wear a dress to attain fabulousness. Zoe demonstrated this theory when she opted for a glitzy blouse tucked into cropped pants, worn with a yellow-lined blazer and a pair of embellished platform pumps—all in all, a smashing combo for a smashing show.
2. Julia Restoin Roitfeld
Everyone's favorite editorial daughter, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, flaunted a gorgeous ensemble during the amFAR Gala to Kick Off Fashion Week at Cipriani. Roitfeld displayed the familial affinity for sequins in a sparkling Balmain mini dress and two-strap black Miu Miu pumps. The frock is glamorous enough to stand alone, so we like that Roitfeld kept her accessories minimal.
3. Zoe Kravitz
As you might have noticed by our coverage as of late, Zoe Kravitz has become a go-to girl for excellent event outfits (not to mention, stellar street style). The rockstar heiress impressed us once again at the Alexander Wang show last weekend, when she wore the designer's sweater and sweat shorts, paired with a vintage white tank and heels. Beauty aficionados take note: just like Roitfeld, Kravitz finished her look with bold red lipstick!
4. Erin Wasson
There were countless tastemakers at Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld’s photography exhibition at Collective Hardware, but—surprise, surprise—Erin Wasson still managed to stand out. The supermodel/stylist/designer turned heads in her own Erin Wasson x RVCA velvet dress and Lowluv bangles, a 3.1 Phillip Lim fringe top, and vintage Fendi jacket. The overall effect was disheveled glamour grunge and we deeply admire these results. Wasson never takes cookie-cutter style route—hallelujah!
5. Kate Bosworth
In terms of celebrity style, Kate Bosworth will always receive preferential treatment from the WWW editors, as she never ceases to amaze us. The bright-eyed actress stunned at the Diesel Black Gold show in a charcoal silk blouse, navy knee-length skirt, and cozy cardi, all from Diesel Black Gold's collection. As for her printed scarf and sizable chain bag—they’re Diesel Black Gold too—but her shoes are not! So what was Bosworth’s footwear of choice? None other than a pair of Maison Martin Margiela wedge patent sandals.
6. Remy Geller
Though there were many stylish attendees at the Tony Cohen show, we thought that Seventeen style blogger Remy Geller was most noteworthy. The WWW newcomer impressed us in a pretty tie-dye Tony Cohen top, American Apparel leggings, and Michael Antonio mary-jane heels. Geller completed her look by applying two of our favorite tips to her ensemble: a fabulous statement-making necklace by Erickson Beamon and fur gilet from H&M!
7. Sasha Pivovarova
In addition to her jaw-dropping physical features, Sasha Pivovarova is blessed with an equally dramatic sense of style! The supermodel earned our affections at The Iconoloclasts Event (celebrating Alex White, W magazine's Fashion Director, who redressed the Prada store in honor of fashion week) in a playful Rodarte dress, graphic purple Prada bag, and yummy platform Rodarte sandals with chain detailing (a nod to fetish footwear!). Pivovarova rounded off her delightful attire with layers of colorful beaded necklaces, silver bracelets, and white nail polish.
8. Meredith Melling Burke
One of our most-liked fashion editors, Meredith Melling Burke, is an omnipresent force at the shows, giving us ample opportunities to check out her personal style. Though she’s always impeccably attired, we particularly liked the clothing combo she wore to the DKNY show. The Vogue Senior Market Editor went for a sophisticated and relaxed look, choosing a distressed pair of Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans as the foundation of her outfit. She dressed up the slouchy denim with a Gryphon coat, delectable red patent bag, and triple-strap black patent heels (both Chanel).
9. Peaches Geldof
One of the things we love about Peaches Geldof's style is that her outfits come off as accidentally chic, rather than systematically planned. Seen here at the Alice + Olivia presentation, she paid homage to the prevalent nineties trend in a light-wash denim vest and plaid top. Geldof completed her look with some unexpected thigh-high fishnets, lace-up leather booties, and a vintage brown satchel.

At this very moment, we're probably sifting through the Oscars' aftermath—an enormous pile of red carpet pictures and after-party snapshots galore—but while we debate the best dressed list, we’d like to offer up an equally entertaining substitute. In this installment of our New York Fashion Week outfit coverage, we've included a few familiar faces (such as the marvelous duo of Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie) and some unexpected delights (hooray for Z. Berg). Check out the wonderful range of looks and enjoy!
1. Paz de la Huerta
To commence part two of our fashion week coverage, we present the enchanting Paz de la Huerta and the ensemble she wore to Erin Fetherston's show. The actress illustrated one of our most recent styling tips—mix rich velvet pieces into your winter looks!—in a lovely way. Ms. de la Huerta wore an Erin Fetherston velvet blazer with correspondingly luxe Christian Dior velvet leggings, which she tucked into a pair of gray leather ankle booties by Marc Jacobs. She further compelled onlookers via her gold chain purse, red plaid outerwear, and vintage lace bustier. Since the majority of Huerta's look is modest, her sheer lingerie top is an appropriate sultry addition.
2. Diane Kruger
Though we expect nothing less from the perpetually cool Kruger, we were still ecstatic to see her straightforwardly stylish outfits at fashion week. We're particularly fond of the outfit she wore to the Marchesa show: a Future Classics floral printed frock, black leggings, and lace-up Fendi boots. Kruger polished off the ensemble with some classic wayfarer shades and dainty gold leaf earrings.
3. Z. Berg & Alex Greenwald
Deep in the heart of the WhoWhatWear.com archives lies a fabulous Guest Editor: The Like story, dedicated to the indie band's style. We've faithfully tracked their outfits ever since, often focusing on guitar/vocalist Elizabeth Z. Berg's outfit selections. The musician looked schoolgirl chic at the Charlotte Ronson show, clad in a Charles Anastase coat, Charlotte Ronson zipper frock, Marc Jacobs suede lace-up booties, and knee-high socks. Berg uniquely rounded off her look with layers of pendant necklaces, a cream vintage beret, and a Hello Kitty purse.
Next to Berg is Phantom Planet's lead singer, Alex Greenwald, who also deserves some outfit acclaim. The fashionable fellow chose a relaxed hipster clothing combo consisting of a plain white tee, blue and red flannel shirt, black skinny jeans, and hooded scarf.
4. Poppy Delevingne
When perusing the slew of inventive outfits at fashion week, the ensemble Poppy Delevingne wore to Jonathan Saunders show caught our eye. The British model balanced her sweet pink satin Jonathan Saunders dress with a little leather jacket from Topshop and peep-toe patent pumps. Delevingne also showed her appreciation for fringe details via her fringe chain-strap bag.
5. Leighton Meester
Everyone's favorite teen queen—Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester—dazzled us during the Erin Wasson x RVCA Presentation at Milk Studios. Dressed in Proenza Schouler, Meester perfectly conveyed the designers’ pre-fall runway look in a bronze-paillete blouse tucked into a shimmering turquoise skirt, black leather belt, and croc clutch. The starlet completed her scintillating ensemble with Lorraine Schwartz's monkey pendant ring and gemstone bangles, as well as a pair of embellished Roger Vivier pumps.
6. Leigh Lezark
Style.com favorite Leigh Lezark was out and about this fashion week, notably popping up at Erin Fetherston's after-party at the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar. The Misshapes DJ composed a simple, yet effective, outfit by marrying a pretty floral frock with a wide suede belt and black suede buckle booties.
7. Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana turned out a smartly stylish getup for McQ Alexander McQueen for Target's debut. Saldana modeled a pair of the hugely popular Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans with a semi-sheer L'Agence top and double-breasted Burberry blazer for a winning look. The actress put the finishing touches on her outfit with a delicate Jennifer Meyer necklace, Lambertson Truex croc clutch, and pair of Christian Louboutin's ever-reliable black patent pumps.
8. Mary-Kate Olsen & Nicole Richie
When the two most notorious celebrity trendsetters—Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Richie—weren't present in part one of our fashion week roundup, we received many complaints! Fret not, dear readers, as we were just saving the best for last! Seen here at the Proenza Schouler show, Olsen flaunted an enviably amazing ensemble, consisting of a bright blue frock and buckle clutch by Proenza Schouler, worn with her own Elizabeth & James white blazer and fashion-forward black heels. Richie looked equally amazing in a Proenza Schouler sequin mini dress and platform patent pumps.
9. Taylor Momsen
Last, but certainly not least in WhoWhatWear.com's fashion week coverage, we must turn to Taylor Momsen. The Gossip Girl actress' popularity continues to rise at an ever-increasing rate and it simply delights us to witness her stellar outfits. While the majority of America's 15-year-olds were doing homework on Wednesday night, Momsen was attending Anna Sui's show dressed in the designer's voluminous, floral-detailed satin dress, Gary Graham leather jacket, platform zipper booties, and grommet-faceted clutch. If only everyone’s sophomore-year outfits were so fantastic…
