Shape refers to every individual area of a painting, including the background.
Value is the relative darkness or lightness of any given spot. Value is easy to understand and measure in a black and white picture.
Texture refers to the apparent roughness or smoothness of an area in a painting.
Color is not explainable, it’s a totally personal experience. Yet there is more to say about color than all the other design elements put together.
The Color Wheel represents the full spectrum of colors, but bent back on itself so both ends connect.
Primaries:There are three primary colors. REDBLUEYELLOW
Secondaries :There are three secondary colors.
ORANGE=YELLOW + RED
GREEN = BLUE + YELLOW
PURPLE = RED + BLUE
Complements are any pair of colors which are exactly opposite each other on the color wheel. These are the main complements:
Blue-Orange
Yellow-Purple
Red-Green
